Although it is important for the citizens, the traffic route of 175 kilometers which will connect Backa and Banat, that is, the border crossings Backi Breg with Hungary and Nakovo with Romania, is also important for the cargo traffic, and it will also help revive the settlements past which this bypass route goes.

The construction of this large infrastructure project, which has been expected for decades, is to start soon between Sombor and Backi Breg, and the importance of this traffic route is invaluable for a city which has no exit to a highway at the moment and is 30 kilometers away from the borders with Hungary and Croatia.

The construction of the road is part of the Serbia 2025 project.

The road is to be designed for a speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour, in four driving lanes, each 3.5 meters wide. As announced earlier, the construction of the traffic route will cost close to EUR 430 million.
