The construction site for the future highway A6 Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad has been opened in the territory of the City of Zrenjanin. Close to Muzlja, on both sides of the local road Muzlja-Lukino Selo, numerous pieces of construction mechanization are tracing the first kilometers of the traffic route, whose outlines are already well visible, the local self-government announced.

The route goes through Muzljanski Rit, toward Aradac, where the construction of the Zrenjanin West Interchange, one of the two connections to the highway in the city zone, is planned. At the moment, it is certainly the biggest construction site not just in Zrenjanin, but in the territory of Banat as well, and the section encompassed by these works now measures around 2.5 kilometers. The new “Peskara”, a sand excavation base, is formed in close proximity, considering that enormous amounts of sand are being poured within the width of the corridor. As the representatives of the contractor, Shandong Hi-Speed Group, had announced during the meeting with the mayor of Zrenjanin, Simo Salapura, the construction of the highway will be carried out from both directions simultaneously – Zrenjanin and Belgrade. The works had first started in the direction from Belgrade to Zrenjanin, from the future Ovca Interchange on the north Belgrade ring road to Jabucki Rit, in the length of around 3 kilometers.

The Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway, the first highway in the territory of Banat, will be 105.4 kilometers long, with a planned completion period of six years.
